Draughty Windows

We frequently have customers contacting us regarding draughty windows, especially in the winter when the temperature is dropping and the central heating goes on and the heat is going out through the windows and the cold air is coming in.

The good news is that we can repair draughty windows in Lewisham, Sidcup, Swanley and the surrounding areas.

Lets take a look why windows can become draughty.

Draughty windows can be caused by a number of reasons which we can see below;

1. Faulty hinges or friction stays. These over time can get worn or broken, causing the opening window (the sash) not to shut properly against the seal or gaskets. This causes draughts, noise from outside, dust and dirt ingress and also allows insects and spiders to get inside your home. By replacing the friction hinges this can be rectified.

2. Gaps between the the wall and frame. Poor window installation or building movement can cause gaps which allow a draught from outside. In this case it will need to be filled.

3. Gaps between the pane of glass and the frame. This issue can be rectified by installing new weatherseals and gaskets.

We can resolve all of these issues associated with draughty windows. We can fill gaps and supply and fit new hinges/friction stays, gaskets and seals.

If you have draughty windows and would like them to be repaired then contact us today to book an appointment.
